I removed "Backup Server" from the list of features. Freecom has that printed on the box, but "Backup Server" doesn't make much sense. It serves files... a backup is just a file. --Dbeardsl 05:05, 17 May 2006 (CEST)

Sorry, my fault ;-) --Hormigo 15:12, 18 May 2006 (CEST)
Actually it is a feature we have had planned since november 2005, but never made it in due to problems with an external company who made it for us. It was the first time we worked with externally created code and not a success. At the moment we have a running alpha version in our testlab. 3.4.x firmware. But it will be a while before it is stable enough to be released.

XScale and ARM9?
Can someone shed some light on this? The Xscale processor is *not* an ARM9, no matter how you cut it.
I believe one could run arm9 binaries on an XScale if all of the pieces were properly built,
so I wonder if that's what they mean. Even
Freecom's literature says this: Processor Intel XSCale ARM9 CPU @ 266 MHz.
Xscale is an ARM9B with extensions to allow higher clockspeeds. The entire core is still completely based on the ARM9 architecture. As far as I always understood it, the Xscale is an ARM9 on steroids with several special features that you do not have to use. What the exact difference are you will have to learn from someone else then me ;-)
