Dynamic DNS

Surely all this Dynamic DNS stuff isn't needed if you have a static IP?

Isn't this just going to confuse some people?

As far as I can see, all that I need is: 1) Open port 80 on my ADSL box and/or make the FSG the DMZ 2) Switch on the HTTP server on the FSG. Done.

Will the update client automatically update both created hostnames in the dyndns server (even if you have a static IP) to prevent them from expiring and being deleted after x days? Do you know after how many days it performs an automatic update of the hostname (even if the IP didn't change)? Thanks, Jos

Is it possible to make the WAN IP be the homepage/website and not DataTank, so DataTank (and its ftp/ssh server/files) is only available on MyFSGConfig.zapto.org (or a secret subdomain of your own), and the website on both MyFSGHP.zapto.org and the WAN IP (for security reasons of course)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vlaarjos (talkcontribs)

Right now, nothings restrict you to have more that one web site listening on the same port and pointing on different folder. Is it a bug or is there any possibility to use such configuration ?
