Talk:Recovery Procedure
I can't seem to find instructions for doing a recovery without FSGA (Linux, Mac OS etc.). Perhaps these should be linked here. --Soundray 17:39, 30 January 2007 (CET)
I believe it's a tftp boot isn't it? Has anyone snooped the protocol so we know what to set up? I'd prefer not to wipe my FSG just as I whipped it into shape, so how about the next person who needs to upgrade should have a go? ---Mhaswell 20:13, 1 February 2007 (CET)
Some notes from my recent experience:
The LED patterns can be misleading. When plugging in the FSG, the centre light ALWAYS illuminates, regardless of whether or not you're holding the reset button. And a flashing centre light (after a while) doesn't necessarily mean the process has failed - I've just recovered mine, and it started with a solid centre light, then a flashing one... I gave up in exasperation, then looked at the FSGA screen a few minutes later to find it chugging away happily. Perhaps there are different redboot versions with different patterns?
PATIENCE and TENACITY are the keys with this process. Give it a try. WAIT. Nothing happens for a while anyway. Keep trying until it eventually works - I've had to go six or seven times to get it started. --Kenpem 11:41, 10 July 2008 (CEST)
